What is sizing and warping software?
Sizing and warping software manages the step between yarn and weaving: turning a party's yarn into sized weaver's beams. It records each set, the yarn received for it, the beams made from it and the yarn returned. Pinakexa sets up sizing and warping software for units that work on job-work for many weavers, as well as for weaving units with their own sizing.
The core record in any sizing unit is the beam register. It must answer simple questions fast: whose set is this, how many beams came out of it, how much yarn is left and when were the beams delivered? When the register is digital and linked to yarn receipt and delivery, those answers take seconds, not a search through old books.
Key features of sizing and warping software
Each of these is configured during setup to match your machines, set numbering and party billing.
- Yarn receipt: party yarn received against a set, with count, weight and number of cones or bags.
- Set programme: ends, beam length, count, number of beams and party instructions.
- Warping record: warper beams made for each set.
- Sizing record: weaver's beams made, with length and weight per beam.
- Beam register: every beam with party, set and status, searchable any time.
- Delivery and billing: beam challans and sizing charges with GST.
Set-wise yarn issue and return
A party trusts a sizing unit with their yarn. Trust lasts when the yarn balance is clear. Pinakexa records yarn received for each set, yarn used in beams, any yarn returned and the balance. Each party can be given a set-wise statement on request.
- Yarn received, used and returned per set.
- Party-wise yarn balance across all sets.
- Set-wise statements you can share with the party.
Sizing job-work and delivery
Most sizing units work on job-work. Yarn comes in from the party, and sized beams go out to the party or straight to their weaver. Delivery challans list each beam with set number, length and weight. Charges are billed from the delivery record. For the GST side of this, see our textile job-work guide.
- Beams delivered to the party or directly to their weaver.
- Challan with set number, beam numbers, length and weight.
- Sizing or warping charges per beam, per metre or per kilo, as you bill today.
- Pending deliveries listed by party and set.
Linking sizing to weaving
Sized beams go straight to looms. Weaving units that use Pinakexa powerloom ERP can receive these beams into their own beam register, so the same beam is tracked from sizing to fabric. This is one reason a connected textile ERP saves time across the chain.
- Beam numbers stay the same from sizing to loom.
- Weavers can see beams due from the sizing unit.
- Disputes over beam length and weight are easier to settle.
How Pinakexa sets up sizing software
We study your set numbering, beam register format and billing method first. Then we configure masters, import open sets and pending yarn from your registers or Excel, and train operators and the office. Operators can enter data on a phone near the machine.
- Review your beam register and set format.
- Configure party, count and charge masters.
- Import open sets and party yarn balances.
- Train operators and office staff, then go live.
How to choose sizing and warping software
Many systems can make an invoice. Few understand sets, beams and party yarn. Use this checklist when you compare sizing software, and bring a page from your current beam register to any demo so you can test it against real work.
- Can it record a set programme with ends, length and count?
- Does every beam have its own record with length and weight?
- Can it show yarn received, used and returned per set?
- Can a delivery challan list every beam with set number?
- Can operators use it on a phone near the machine?
- Can it bill sizing charges straight from the delivery record?
